Woodstock Academy Students Donate Beanie Babies for Emergency Kits

Add some more info about this item...

Hello, this is IHSP President Karen Osbrey.  Do you know how many beanie babies fit in a leaf and lawn bag?  I can tell you, it’s a lot!   Thanks to the awesome students at Woodstock Academy, I spent a good portion of the past weekend sorting Beanie Babies and stuffed animals by size and moving them from the leaf and lawn bags to big plastic bins for safe storage.

I bet you’re wondering why we need so many stuffed animals? Because sometimes police need to remove babies/toddlers from homes or unsafe conditions and they are not equipped to care for a small child, especially if they are still in diapers. So IHSP is developing a new program that will supply emergency kits to the Putnam and Plainfield Police Departments and State Police Troop D.  The kits will contain supplies such as diapers, wipes, bottles, formula and stuffed animals.

IHSP Board of Director Lori Wajer, who also works at Woodstock Academy, asked WA students to help by donating some stuffed animals for the kits. WOW! Boy did they help!  Woodstock Academy students donated 2 car loads of Beanie Babies and stuffed animals. I was overwhelmed by the first delivery. The second delivery was pure joy.
