HARASSMENT-DISCRIMINATION POLICY
Interfaith Human Services of Putnam
IHSP is committed to providing an environment free from harassment or discrimination in the treatment of individuals with respect to volunteer opportunities or access to our facilities, programs or activities. All volunteers are expected to act responsibly to establish a pleasant working environment free of discrimination. IHSP does not permit harassment or discrimination on the basis of race, creed, color, religion, age, disability, marital status, political beliefs, partnership status, gender, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, gender expression, genetic information, pregnancy, alienage or citizenship status, current or former participation in the uniformed services, status as a veteran, or national or ethnic origin, or all or part of an individual’s income derived from public assistance programs, or on account of any other basis prohibited by applicable City, State, or Federal law. Additional protections are afforded based on arrest or conviction record, status as a victim of domestic violence, stalking and sex offenses, unemployment status, and credit history, in each case to the extent provided by law.
"Sexual harassment is behavior of a sexual nature that is unwelcome and offensive to the person or persons it is targeted toward. Examples of harassing behavior may include unwanted physical contact, foul language of an offensive sexual nature, sexual propositions, sexual jokes or remarks, obscene gestures, and displays of pornographic or sexually explicit pictures, drawings, or caricatures. Use of IHSP's computer system for the purpose of viewing, displaying, or disseminating material that is sexual in nature may also constitute harassing behavior."
