FUEL ASSISTANCE FUNDS

IHSP offers fuel assistance to individuals/families living in Putnam.  The program is funded by community donations and the Town of Putnam.  It supplements the State of Connecticut Energy Assistance Program and Operation Fuel, providing assistance when these programs are not available.

Requests for assistance are by appointment only and can be made by calling (860) 928-0169 or by email to ihspputnam2005@gmail.com.

CEAP (CONNECTICUT ENERGY ASSISTANCE PROGRAM)

This program is intended to offset winter heating costs for low-income households.  Program eligibility is determined by total household annual income (before taxes) and is available to households using oil, kerosene, propane, wood, coal or natural gas.  To apply for assistance, contact The Access Agency at 860-412-1600. Applications are available starting in August.

OPERATION FUEL

TEEG serves as the area fuel bank for Operation Fuel.  To apply for utility assistance contact them at 860-923-3458 to determine if you meet income qualifications.  You can also email Operation Fuel at opfuelapplications@operationfuel.org or call them at 1-860-243-2345.

UTILITY ASSISTANCE

Eversource offers New Start, a program that helps low income individuals and families who have a delinquent balance and are in jeopardy of having their service terminated.  A monthly payment arrangement is made and as long as the customer makes that payment every month, the past due amount is reduced. Call 1-800-286-2828.  They also offer a Matching Payment Program that reduces the amount due when a payment is made on time every month.
